The Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) lauded Carlos Yulo’s historic performance in the 9th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships held in Doha, Qatar.
“Taos-pusong pagbati kay Caloy Yulo na muli na namang ibinandera ang galing at kakayahan ng Pilipino,” PBA Party-list Rep. Migs Nograles said.
Yulo is now set to compete in the Artistic World Championships in Liverpool from October 29 to November 6.
Yulo dominated the competition, bringing home three gold medals and a silver.
On Friday, the 22-year-old gymnast became the first Filipino to win a medal in Asian Championships history when he clinched silver in the men’s all-around event, after which, he bagged the gold in the floor exercise.
He then earned two more gold medals in vault and parallel bars on Saturday.
Yulo is now set to compete in the Artistic World Championships in Liverpool from October 29 to November 6.
Nograles said that while the country could expect another good showing from him in the upcoming competition, “nothing should be taken for granted.”
“He will be up against the best in the world. We cannot be lax about this, so the government should give Caloy all the support he needs,” the neophyte solon said.
“From this point onward, there should be minimal distractions, and I hope that the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines will be proactive in this regard so that Caloy can focus solely on the upcoming tilt,” the Davaoeña lawyer added.
