More than just a comeback, UPeepz is out on a mission to reclaim its rightful place in the arena that only the best get to set their foot on.
The long wait is finally over. After two years, two-time World Hip-Hop Dance Champion UPeepz is back to showcase their world-class talent through a fundraising event titled HUPEEP 7: Return at 7 p.m. at the SM North Edsa-Skydome. The much-awaited event will once again prove UPeepz’s supremacy on the dance floor, with their grit, mastery of skills, uniquely-Pinoy moves, and jaw-dropping synchronicity that catapulted them to the global stage, where they earned international recognition twice.
UPeepz: Humble Beginnings to Global Recognition
Tracing its roots in the University of the Philippines, UPeepz was formed in 2011 as a student dance group heavily influenced by street dance and hip-hop. The following years show their ascent not only in the Philippine hip-hop dance scene but also on the global stage. From a back-to-back win in the World Hip Hop Dance Championships last 2016 and 2017 to being a semi-finalist in World of Dance 2020, they continue to showcase that Filipinos are also a force in dance worthy of global recognition.
They’ve come a long way from being a modest college dance group to gaining worldwide attention, creating an equally talented junior group, partnering with different brands and organizations, giving back to the community through dance workshops, and even raising funds for PPE during the pandemic.
There’s no stopping UPeepz. They will be returning to the World Hip-Hop Dance Championships this August for another win through their subteams.
HUPEEP 7: RETURN Passion Bred, Trials Hardened
UPeepz hosted its first annual fundraising dance concert in 2012. Through the event, the team managed to send various competing teams, and in 2016, the Mega Crew division bagged the Gold medal against top-tier teams from other countries. They returned the following year and defended their title during the 2017 World Hip-Hop Dance Championship held in Phoenix, Arizona. The last HUPEEP was held in 2019 with the title HUPEEP 6: ERA. This year, HUPEEP 7: RETURN aims to raise funds for the three UPeepz competing teams for the Adult, JV Mega Crew, and Varsity divisions.
Get your tickets for the fundraising event for 750 Php or 1,200 Php. Check out the UPeepz official social media pages for more details, including their exciting line-up of special guests.
As UPeepz takes shots at the World Hip-Hop Dance Championship titles in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 6-13, 2022, they will carry the Philippine flag on their chests with pride and glory. Their passion will serve as a fuel that will never run dry. The scars they earned from their trials as their badge of honor, commitment, and tenacity to proudly raise our flag on the world stage.
