Rotary is a global network of leaders, problem solvers and changemakers with the mission of providing service to others, promoting integrity, and advancing world understanding and peace through fellowship of business, professional and community leaders.
The Rotary structure involves three kinds of clubs: Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, and Interact Clubs. With the slogan of “Fellowship through Service,” Rotaract is a global movement of young leaders 18 years of age or older with the goal of developing innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. The mission of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for the youth to enhance knowledge and skills which will assist their personal development to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
As of January 2022, the Philippines has 14,423 reported Rotaractors. The Youth Empowerment Summit 2023 is a project of the Rotary International YES 2023 District 3780, the only district in the Philippines which covers only one city, Quezon City. As of January 2022, RI District 3780 is made up of 643 community-based clubs and 41 school/university based clubs. Our Rotaract Club, the Club of Midtown Diliman (RACMD), is a community-based club of RI under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Midtown Diliman.
This year, The Rotaract Club of Midtown Diliman has the honor of hosting the 2023 YES with the theme of “Ready for Mature Roles: Insights on Leadership and Adulting” this coming March 10, 2023 (Friday) at the Bahay ng Alumni Luciano Salazar Hall.
In the 2023 YES, an audience of around 500 Rotaract and non-Rotaract college students to professionals are expected to come who are eager to listen to thought provoking and inspiring speakers. The 2023 YES aims to spur participants to be leaders of long-lasting and high-impact change through critical analysis on pressing issues affecting marginalized groups. The 2023 YES will also focus on how the youth, especially Rotaract leaders, can use their unique skills and positions in life to make innovative solutions.
Accordingly, a high profile esteemed roster of speakers are invited to share insights on their formative or inspiring moments or encounters which would also greatly enrich the participants’ creativity, ideas on how to achieve their potential and a brighter imagination of possibilities for a better Philippines.
