The call of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos asking all top-ranked police officials to submit their courtesy resignations is being supported by Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative Ace Barbers.
“As chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, I am in full support of DILG Secretary Abalos’ call to ‘cleanse’ the ranks of senior police officers who may have been ‘infected’ or involved in the illegal drug trade,” Barbers said.
Abalos made the call as part of the government’s efforts to purge the PNP of officers with links to the illegal drugs trade.
Abalos asked police generals and colonels to submit their courtesy resignations.
According to the veteran legislator, the step taken by Abalos is just right to cleanse the ranks of the PNP.
