SENATE MAY INCREASE SESSION DAYS – ZUBIRI

The Senate may increase session days when Congress convenes on January 23.

According to Senate President Migz Zubiri, they plan to do this in order to tackle more laws.

“That way, hindi naman puyatan ang ating mga kasamahan.”

“So, request ko kay Senator (Sonny) Angara, maybe instead of tackling these six working days, baka pwedeng, maybe, nine working days — three weeks, instead of two — that way, hindi naman puyatan ang ating mga kasamahan,” Zubiri said.

The veteran legislator recalled working until 3:00 in the morning during deliberations on the 2023 national budget.

It also worked overtime in tacking the positive effect of the SIM card registration, and the postponement of barangay election.

“For the first quarter of 2023, the Senate will prioritize the creation of the Virology Institute, the Center for Disease Control and the medical bills that will help increase the country’s economic standing.”

When Congress resumes session on Jan. 23, it will adjourn on March 23 for the Lenten break.

It resumes again in the last week of April until June before its sine die adjournment ending the first regular session.
