ROMUALDEZ, ESCUDERO TACKLE LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

Speaker Martin Romualdez is scheduled to meet with newly installed Senate President Chiz Escudero to discuss the legislative priorities of the current administration and ensure open communication between the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Interviewed by reporters on the sidelines of the 126th Independence Day celebration at Barasoain Church in Bulacan, Romualdez highlighted the importance of the meeting, which aims to align the legislative agendas of both chambers.

The veteran legislator emphasized that the House has already passed all the priority measures set forth by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., particularly those outlined in his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

“Bukas, magkakaroon tayo ng meeting, at syempre, tatalakayin ang priority legislative agenda,” said the leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives.

He said the cooperation between the House and the Senate is crucial for the successful implementation of the administration’s programs and reforms.

“While the House has already accomplished significant legislative milestones, it is essential to ensure that both chambers are aligned in their objectives.”

Romualdez noted that while the House has already accomplished significant legislative milestones, it is essential to ensure that both chambers are aligned in their objectives.

The legislature is currently on recess after adjourning the second regular session of the 19th Congress last May 22.

It will resume for the third regular session on July 22, during which President Marcos will deliver his third SONA.
