The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – National Capital Region conferred the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) with an award as NCR’s best city jail.
BJMP-NCR recognized the institution during their 31st Anniversary celebration at The Elements in Eton Centris recently. It is the first time that the QC Jail Male Dorm received this distinction.
Aside from this, the Quezon City government also received a special award for continuously supporting the institution and providing aid for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) throughout the years.
The city government has been closely coordinating with the QCJML to provide for the needs of their institution, including livelihood and health programs.
BJMP-QC’s Quezon City Jail Ligtas COVID Center and Quarantine Facility were also recognized as the Best Quarantine Facility in NCR.
Bonto stressed.
In May, the city commended Bonto for enforcing Operation Greyhound in which contrabands such as bladed weapons, cash, and drugs were discovered tucked away inside the walls and floorboards of jail premises and subsequently confiscated,
In March, Mayor Belmonte led the turnover ceremony of the newly-built QC Male Dormitory in Barangay Bagong Silangan. The city bought the 2.4-hectare land where it is situated, and as per the usufruct agreement, the site was used to build the biggest jail dormitory in the country.
The facility is compliant with United Nations standards and is expected to decongest the current city jail along EDSA.
Personnel of QC Male Dormitory are also involved in the formulation of city programs as active members of the city’s Peace and Order Council.
