QC AUTOMATES BUSINESS REGISTRATION PROCESS

In a bid to put ease in doing business and encourage more entrepreneurs to operate in the city, the Quezon City government has launched a new portal that will enable the online processing of business permits applications.

According to Mayor Joy Belmonte, the QC: Biz Easy Online Unified Business Permit Application System (OUBPAS) is one of the gains of Executive Order no. 36 s. 2019, which ordered the creation of the Task Force for Ease of Doing Business and Automation in the city.

According to Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) Head Margie Santos, the system came in an opportune time, while the city transitions to the new normal.

“We are optimistic that this change in the way we process and issue permits will help us gain the trust of entrepreneurs to do business in the city,” said Belmonte.

She added that the move also targets one of the city’s 14-point agenda, which is to make Quezon City the preferred business destination.

Starting October 2, 2020, applicants who wish to apply for new business permits, renew business permits, or amend their business permits are advised to go to this link to start the process:  https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/bpld

The submitted applications are then sent to ancillary departments in a real-time manner. Once clearance is given by said departments, the client may pay at the various business centers all over Quezon City.

Quezon City also inaugurated a newly-improved Business-One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) which streamlines payments and other transactions for the city’s close to 86,000 businesses.

Likewise, an online payment mechanism will soon be made available.

The client may also choose to have his permit delivered to him via a courier service of his choice.

According to Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) Head Margie Santos, the system came in an opportune time, while the city transitions to the new normal.

“We’ve been working diligently on automating our business registration system since we took office in July 2019 and this really came at an opportune time. By shifting online, not only do we make our processes quicker and easier but we also protect our citizens from the coronavirus,” said Santos.

She added that online application will limit face to face interactions between citizens and city hall employees while social distancing is strictly advised during this time.

Simultaneous with the launch of QC:Biz Easy was the inauguration of the newly-improved Business-One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) which streamlines payments and other transactions for the city’s close to 86,000 businesses.
