The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) through its PRC Negros Occidental – Bacolod City Chapter, served hot meals to 320 families and facilitated hygiene promotion and emergency first aid lessons to more than 170 persons at La Castellana Elementary School in Negros Occidental, following the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon emphasized the need to provide nutritious, warm meals to evacuees, as crowded evacuation centers prevent families from accessing kitchen utensils and cooking spaces.

The PRC has established first aid and welfare stations, offered basic medical care, and organized child-friendly activities at La Castellana and La Carlota elementary schools, where hundreds of families are staying due to the disruption caused by Kanlaon’s volcanic activity.
