As Carina escalated to a super typhoon, Red Cross 143 volunteers and staff worked 24/7 to provide emergency rescue assistance, water and food aid, and necessary health services to communities affected by flooding in Metro Manila and other regions.
“Our volunteers on the ground and staff, Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang, Assistant Secretary General Dr. Monina Nalupta, Ramon Murillo, and PRC services managers have been awake since early morning, working nonstop to respond to numerous calls for help,” PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon said.
“We’re just being true to our mission to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the most vulnerable.”
“Work never stops at the Red Cross. We’re just being true to our mission to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the most vulnerable,” Gordon added.
The PRC also continues to give hot meals to residents badly affected by the storm.
More than 6,370 hot meals have been distributed to typhoon-affected residents of Metro Manila and several provinces.
“Tayo mismo ang nagtungo sa ating mga kababayan para bigyan sila ng makakain.”
“Meron tayong 37 food trucks. Ngayong may bagyo, pahirapan maghanap ng makakain kaya tayo mismo ang nagtungo sa ating mga kababayan para bigyan sila ng makakain,” Gordon said.
“Hindi lang natin sila binubusog, mahalaga na maiparamdam sa kanila na hindi sila nag-iisa,” he added.
