The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) assisted passengers of a fishing boat that caught fire in the waters of Naga City, Cebu recently.
After receiving reports from its Operations Center and RC143 volunteers on the ground, the PRC, through its Cebu Chapter, immediately dispatched an ambulance unit with five personnel to provide urgent prehospital treatment and ambulance transport to the injured passengers.
The humanitarian organization also provided three cadaver bags for the deceased.
“The PRC is coordinating with the Philippine Coastguard and CDRRMO to assess what additional assistance is needed.”
PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon assured families of the victims that the PRC is coordinating with the Philippine Coast Guard and the CDRRMO to assess what additional assistance is needed.
Gordon urged everyone to stay vigilant whether at home, on land, or traveling by sea.
In addition to RC143 volunteers, PRC’s ambulance units and other response vehicles have been prepositioned in strategic areas across the country for prompt mobilization in cases of emergencies.
