PRC AIDS CARINA-HIT ARES IN TARLAC, BULACAN

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon and Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang travelled for hours to personally grant household livelihood assistance to 663 families severely affected by Super Typhoon #CarinaPH (“Gaemi”) in Moncada, Tarlac and Hagonoy, Bulacan.

The beneficiaries, who were thoroughly assessed by our Disaster Management Services (DMS) team, received P9,000 each for the first installment.

The program was made possible through the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

“Beyond financial aid, we are giving them the opportunity to rebuild their lost livelihoods.”

“The Red Cross not only helps the most vulnerable communities, but empowers them.  Beyond financial aid, we are giving them the opportunity to rebuild their lost livelihoods so they can stand on their own feet no matter the adversity. Work hard, save, invest. Matuto tayo maging resilient,” Gordon said.

“Hanggang ngayon, ang Red Cross ay tumutulong sa mga naapektuhan ng mga bagyo noong nakaraang taon.”

“Alongside alleviating suffering, the Red Cross is committed to uplifting human dignity. That means reaching out to far-flung communities in dire need, and bringing the Red Cross’ services to them. Hanggang ngayon, ang Red Cross ay tumutulong sa mga naapektuhan ng mga bagyo noong nakaraang taon,” Pang added.

In total, the PRC has provided P38.4 million-worth of relief and recovery assistance to families affected by Carina, with activities ongoing throughout this year.

Supporting the PRC’s efforts in the activities were representatives of the local PRC chapters and local governments of Moncada (Moncada Information Office) and Hagonoy such as Moncada Mayor Estelita Aquino, Moncada Vice Mayor Ramon Benito Aquino, PRC Tarlac Board Director Luciano Paras Jr., Bulacan 3rd District Rep. and PRC Bulacan Board Chairman Tita Lorna Silverio, Hagonoy Mayor Flordeliza Manlapaz, and Hagonoy Vice Mayor Ma.
