The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) party-list has welcomed efforts aimed at helping revive the economy by encouraging people to go local amid the coronavirus pandemic.
PHILRECA party-list Rep. Presley De Jesus cited the online campaign dubbed as “Pinas Muna Tayo!” recently unveiled by the government and the private sector, that seeks to stimulate economic growth by supporting Philippine-made products and local tourist destinations.
“Now is the time to support our struggling local businesses and help them recover.”
De Jesus also exhorted the 121 electric cooperatives (ECs) from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to support local industries, tourism, and trade activities by ensuring stable and reliable electric services during these times.
“There is no doubt the coronavirus pandemic has taken a tremendous toll on our local economy. Now is the time to support our struggling local businesses and help them recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic,” the party-list lawmaker said.
De Jesus exhorted the 121 ECs from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to support local industries.
The “Pinas Muna Tayo!” campaign is divided into three components: TriPinas seeks to boost domestic tourism; ShoPinas encourages patronage of locally-made goods and products to help the retail industry; and LasaPinas promotes local food and hospitality.
