PH RED CROSS LAUNCHES ‘LINIS BEATS DENGUE’ DRIVE

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) started a simultaneous nationwide cleanup drive called “Linis BEATs Dengue” to help combat the rising dengue cases in the country.

The initiative mobilized 500 PRC staff and 5,000 volunteers across 73 Red Cross chapters and 200 communities in 100 cities and municipalities to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

As part of the BEAT program—PRC’s broader strategy to fight dengue—the activity was done in coordination with local communities and Red Cross 143 volunteers, ensuring a collective effort in dengue prevention.

PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon emphasized the importance of community action in fighting dengue.

“May paraan para maiwasan ang dengue—kung bawat pamilya sa mga komunidad ay maglilinis.”

“May paraan para maiwasan ang dengue—kung bawat pamilya sa mga komunidad ay maglilinis. Kaya naman hinihikayat namin ang lahat to take action and clean. Our Red Cross 143 volunteers and Red Cross Youth are actively doing their part—you should too,” Gordon stressed.

PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang also underscored the need for proactive efforts to combat dengue.

“Through Linis BEATs Dengue, we are not just cleaning—we are saving lives.”

“Dengue is preventable, and it starts with clean homes and communities. Through Linis BEATs Dengue, we are not just cleaning—we are saving lives. We are encouraging everyone to make this a community activity, after all, a clean environment is a SAFE environment,” Pang said.

Pang, alongside PRC staff and volunteers, participated in the cleanup drive in Batasan Hills, Quezon City recently.

In line with the PRC’s BEAT campaign, various activities were conducted such as clean-up drives, dissemination of information materials, and free medical consultations spearheaded by the PRC Health Services and chapter staff and volunteers.

“Dengue is here and we should be prepared para hindi ito kumalat. Tayo mismo ang lalaban sa dengue at hindi natin dapat iasa sa gobyerno o sa Red Cross lang. Dapat may sapat na kaalaman at linisin ang ating kapaligiran. At sa dengue patients, hindi dapat mag-worry dahil palaging may dugo sa Red Cross sa apat na sulok ng Pilipinas,” Gordon reminded the public.

For dengue-related assistance, call the PRC Hotline at 1158.
