Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco recently met with Minister Suanesavanh Vignaket of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism of Laos.
It happened during the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Laos is set to host the next edition of ATF.
During the meeting, Frasco expressed her optimism to work and learn with Laos in terms of promotion of culture, ecotourism, and development of tourism products.
“The DOT continues to capacitate tourism workers in the Philippines through the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) program.”
The tourism chief also broached the possibility of the two countries’ exchange of tourism professionals noting that the DOT continues to capacitate tourism workers in the Philippines through the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) program of the Department.
“We would be happy to exchange with you our tourism professionals.”
“One of the strengths of the Philippines is also in hospitality and in our continuous effort to train our tourism frontline workers in the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence that teaches them values to present only the best service with great degree of compassion and care, we would be happy to exchange with you our tourism professionals,” the tourism head said.
Vignaket affirmed the Frasco’s position, noting that tourism and hospitality exchange will allow them to better prepare for Laos’ hosting of the ATF in 2024.
Both parties also expressed interest in a possible tourism cooperation agreement.
