“Incentivize, not penalize.”
Vice presidential candidate and Senator Kiko Pangilinan issued this suggestion following the proposal of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to withhold financial assistance to unvaccinated Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.”Ayaw ba ng mga tao magpabakuna? Parang ang isyu ng mababang vaccination rate ay availability ng bakuna at tiwala ng mga tao sa brand ng bakuna,” Pangilinan said.
Pangilinan said the 4Ps should be implemented without conditions because Filipino families need immediate assistance from the government amid the pandemic.
“Getting vaccinated is a personal decision. Ang dapat gawin ng gobyerno ay kumbinsihin ang mga taong piliin ang magpabakuna,” he added.
Pangilinan said the 4Ps should be implemented without conditions because Filipino families need immediate assistance from the government amid the pandemic.
“In short, incentivize, not penalize. Hindi dapat pinagkakait ang ayuda. Hindi solusyon ang alisan ng pangkain ang tao,” he added.
Pangilinan also suggested allowing barangays, especially in critical areas, to handle the vaccination programs within their jurisdiction.
“Use the barangay structure. Kilala nila sa area nila kung sino ang dapat bakunahan,” said Pangilinan, adding that barangays can help identify unvaccinated residents, schedule vaccination days and coordination with local government units (LGUs).
