Senator Robin Padilla joined the nation in honoring women on International Women’s Day.
Padilla and Senator Risa Hontiveros took part in and sang at a program at the Senate honoring women. They sang “Awit ng Barkada” and “Salamat.”
During the program, Padilla stressed the importance of women in the teachings of Islam, which he said decreed that women have the right to education and should not be forced to marry someone they do not love.
The lawmaker added Islam likewise values the protection of women, including widows.
