Senator Robin Padilla pushed for a commendation for the fishermen who recovered a suspected spy drone off Masbate last December.
Padilla made a motion during a hearing of the Special Committee on Philippine Maritime and Admiralty Zones at the Senate.
“Nais ko magbigay ng motion sa pagbibigay ng parangal sa ating mangingisda na nagpakita ng katapangan at pagmamahal sa bayan,” the legislator said.
“Karapat dapat kayong bigyan ng parangal,”
“Ako po saludo sa inyo. Karapat dapat kayong bigyan ng parangal,” the lawmaker told the fishermen at the hearing.
Meanwhile, the senator appealed to the public not to spread false information about the drone, especially as Philippine authorities are still analyzing it.
“Ito ay talagang may kinalaman sa ating seguridad. Pero huwag tayo patalon-talon sa mga kwento-kwento. Tama na po ang mga kwento-kwento,” he concluded.
