Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles led officials including PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, CORDS for BARMM, and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana as well as PIA Director General and PCOO Undersecretary Ramon Cualoping III at the Kasama sa Pamana: Regional Pre-SONA Series held at Cotobato City last June 29, 2021.
The Region XII event was hosted by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the Provincial Government of Maguindanao, and the City Government of Cotabato and was attended by local chief executives, national counterparts for BARMM and various stakeholders.
The government’s successes in ending hunger and malnutrition used the “whole-of-government approach” as embodied in the National Food Policy.
Its main objective is to inform constituents of the various achievements of the Duterte administration, including plans for the remainder of the President’s term. The event also serves as an opportunity to report measures being undertaken to address the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic under the National Vaccination Deployment Plan (NVDP).
In his message, the MalacaƱang official enumerated the government’s successes in ending hunger and malnutrition using the “whole-of-government approach” embodied in the National Food Policy (NFP), a policy framework pushed by Nograles’ Task Force Zero Hunger.
“The Task Force launched the EPAHP program to help farmworkers and fisherfolk. We prioritized these sectors while focusing on the nutrition needs of children and pregnant women at the same time,” the Cabinet Secretary explained.
Nograles likewise credited close cooperation and coordination with development partners such as the private-sector-led Pilipinas Kontra Gutom (PKG) which committed all-out support for the government’s anti-hunger and anti-malnutrition initiative.
“Kailangan natin magtulungan. We need to engage as many players and stakeholders as possible, and we’re reaping the success of this strategy in our goal to achieve zero hunger for each and every Filipino throughout the country.”
