The House of Representatives approved House Bill 10172, or the “National Housing Authority (NHA) Act,” on second reading.
The bill aims to extend the corporate term of the NHA to another 25 years, and at the same time rationalize its functions to address the housing needs of the underserved segment of the population.
“The extension of the corporate charter of the NHA to another period of 25 years is a crucial step towards fulfilling our obligation to provide decent and affordable housing for every Filipino family,” Quezon City Representative Ralph Wendel Tulfo said.
“HB 10172 is a consolidation of eight measures.”
House Committee on Housing and Urban Development chairperson and Negros Occidental Representative Kiko Benitez said HB 10172 is a consolidation of eight measures, including HB 8156 filed by Speaker Martin Romualdez and Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos.
Tulfo is the committee vice chairperson who also led the Technical Working Group, which consolidated all connected initiatives for enhancing the NHA Act.
Meanwhile, the House also passed HB 10079 or the “Philippine Midwifery Act” on second reading.

The said bill seeks to strengthen the regulatory and professional practice of midwifery in the country. Once enacted into law, HB 10079 will repeal Republic Acts 2644 or the “Philippine Midwifery Law,” and 7392 or the “Philippine Midwifery Act of 1992.”
