The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the riverbank protection structures along the banks of the Binalbagan River in the municipality of Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie Bueno said that the construction of slope protection on steel sheet piles, embankments, and reinforced concrete walls with parapets with a total length of 392 lineal meters on both sides will prevent streambank erosion or failure.

“With the completion of the protective structures, residents of Barangay Bagacay can be more at ease knowing that a structure now protects them from soil erosion and flash floods during the rainy season,” the official added.
DPWH Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office implemented the riverbank slope protection projects with a total allocation of P154.4 million from the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
