As part of efforts to improve the delivery of energy services, more than 100 members of the Board of Directors and general managers of the electric cooperatives (ECs) operating in the province of Cebu recently underwent management training under the aegis of the National Electrification Administration (NEA).
The Cooperative Management Course I and III (CMC I and III) were organized by the NEA-EC Training Institute (NETI) and were held on May 25 at the People’s Development Academy (PDA) in Cebu III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEBECO III) in Toledo City.
The management courses aim to provide EC executives with the skills and tools necessary for the efficient and effective management and operation of their respective ECs.
NEA chief Edgardo R. Masongsong joined NETI in the conduct of the workshop, which was participated by 110 Board of Directors, general managers and officers-in-charge (OICs) of CEBECO I, II and III.
“We need to continuously teach and train ECs to deliver efficient and effective power services,” said the NEA Chief.
NETI was led by Director Nora Rivera, who was joined by National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers, Inc. (NCECCO) national vice chairman and Association of Board of Directors of Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (ABDEC) president Reynaldo Lazo.
Also joining the CMC participants were the management staff of CEBECO I, II and III, with around 500 personnel represented by their respective general managers.
Fr. Francisco G. Silva, former Presidential Adviser on Rural Electrification, acted as course facilitator. Also in attendance were NEA Board Members Eugene Tan, Agustin Maddatu and Rene Gonzales.
