Electric cooperatives (ECs) affected by Tropical Storm ‘Dante’ have made significant progress in restoring power to their respective coverage areas, with the majority of them already back to normal operations.
Based on the monitoring of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department as of Sunday (June 06), the provinces that are currently undergoing power restoration activities are Batangas, Masbate and Biliran.
ECs that reported normal operations after experiencing power interruptions are those serving parts of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bataan, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Western Samar, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and Leyte
In Batangas, the Batangas II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BATELEC II) reported that power has been fully restored in Mabini, Alitagtag, Balete, Laurel, Malvar, Mataas na Kahoy, Talisay, Tanauan City, Lipa City, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Jose, San Juan, Taysan and Lobo; and partially restored in Cuenca and Tingloy.
For Masbate, restoration works remain ongoing in Cataingan, Placer, Pio V. Corpus, Palanas, Esperanza, and Dimasalang in the province of Masbate under the coverage area of the Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO). Fully restored are Balud, Masbate City, Mobo, Cawayan, Mandaon, Uson, Aroroy, Milagros, and Baleno.
In the province of Biliran, the Biliran Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BILECO) reported that while electricity has already been restored in all the municipalities under its franchise area, its line workers are continuing to work to restore power to the remaining households impacted by the weather disturbance.
