The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority launched its “Bayanihan sa Barangay” project in Pasay City, a clean-up drive aimed at helping densely populated and to bring the agency’s services closer to the public.
The project was conducted in Barangays 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, and 132 in Pasay.
Services like drainage declogging, clean-up of waterways, trimming and pruning of trees, sidewalk clearing operations, painting of pedestrian lane, misting, one-stop shop query service for settling of violations and repair of perimeter fences along Estero de Tripa de Gallina were conducted by the MMDA personnel from different offices such as Flood Control and Sewerage Management Office, Health, Public Safety and Environmental Protection Office, Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group, and Traffic Engineering Center.
During the launch, MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes said that the “Bayanihan sa Barangay” is a revitalized project of the agency focused on cleaning waterways and drainage systems.
“This project is a form of participatory governance where we pool our resources to address problems in a specific area with a goal to bring forth cleaner and orderly communities and healthier Metro Manila residents,” Artes said.
“MMDA is coordinating with the World Bank for the development of an integrated drainage master plan for the entire Metro Manila.”

“We will draft a plan for an integrated drainage system which is essential in keeping continuous water flow and avoiding clogging and eventual flooding in the entire Metropolis,” he said.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, for her part, has expressed her gratitude to the MMDA for mounting the “Bayanihan sa Barangay”.

Aside from frontline services, orientation sessions about anti-smoking, anti-littering, solid waste management, disaster preparedness, and trash to cash programs were also conducted.
