The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) deployed its new high-tech Mobile Command Center (MCC) which was utilized for the first time for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes led the unveiling and blessing of the new MCC at Commonwealth corner Batasan/IBP Road in Quezon City.
“Aside from the traffic management plan for PBBM’s third SONA that we previously announced, we deployed the MMDA MCC to monitor SONA-related activities as well as traffic situations,” Artes explained.
Donated by Globe Telecom, the MMDA MCC aims to boost its traffic management and public safety monitoring across the metropolis.
“The donated facility is in line with the agency’s continuous pursuit of enhancing traffic management and public safety capabilities and promoting resilience in the face of natural disasters.”
“We are very thankful to Globe Telecom for its donation. The donated facility is in line with the agency’s continuous pursuit of enhancing traffic management and public safety capabilities and promoting resilience in the face of natural disasters,” the MMDA chief said, adding that it will enable real-time coordination and communication among its personnel in the MCC and on the ground.
He proudly shared that the MCC has many notable features and is linked with the newly enhanced MMDA Communications and Command Center.
“The MCC is equipped with state-of-the-art communications systems such as a portable command and dispatch system, multimode radio, and remote CCTVs and drone capabilities. It could be used for monitoring significant events like the President’s annual SONA, and during times of disasters and road emergencies,” Artes further said.
“Sakaling ipag-utos ni Pangulong Marcos na ipadala ito sa probinsya, pwede itong dalhin at gamitin bilang mobile incident command post.”
“Mayroong satellite internet service ang aming mobile command center. Sakaling ipag-utos ni Pangulong Marcos na ipadala ito sa probinsya, pwede itong dalhin at gamitin bilang mobile incident command post,” he added.
Other features offered by the MMDA MCC include a surveillance system that has eight deployable cameras that can be monitored through a monitoring video wall.
Moreover, Artes said that in coordination with DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, the Philippine National Police (PNP) can utilize the MMDA MCC to be able to respond efficiently to emergency situations.
Globe Telecoms Senior Director Robert Aquino, for his part, expressed gratitude to MMDA for being an invaluable ally in their quest to constantly increase their capacity and improve service delivery.
“Our company’s vision is a Philippines where families’ dreams come true, businesses flourish, and the nation is admired. We are grateful for the able leadership of Chairman Artes and his dedicated staff for giving us the necessary support to bring this vision to fruition,” Aquino said.
Other officials present during the event are PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., and Internal Audit Department Deputy Secretary General Jose Ma. Antonio Tuaño.
