MARINDUQUE ROAD, FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS FINISHED

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the construction of a flood mitigation structure and a farm-to-market road (FMR) that now fortifies community resilience and augments the local economy in the municipalities of Boac and Gasan, Marinduque.

In a report to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Marinduque District Engineer Richard Emmanuel Ragragio identified the completed project as the 88-lineal meter flood control structure strategically built in Barangay Bachao Ibaba in the municipality of Gasan.

“The infrastructure that will protect residents from the threat of flooding and water overflowing to their properties, livestock, and essential resources.”

“The newly completed river wall is a significant measure in establishing a sustainable and resilient infrastructure that will protect residents from the threat of flooding and water overflowing to their properties, livestock, and essential resources,” Ragragio said.

Additionally, an FMR was developed along an agricultural community in the municipality of Boac that now facilitates improved mobility and efficient transportation access of local products to the market centers of its neighboring towns and municipalities.

The 279-lineal meter road concreting project in Barangay Duyay includes the construction of portland concrete cement pavement with gravel shoulder on both sides, lineal canal, and stone masonry to ensure durability and resiliency of the road against unfavorable weather conditions.

Implemented by DPWH Marinduque District Engineering Office, the completed flood control and FMR Projects were funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023 amounting to P4.9 Million and P4.6 Million, respectively.
