MARIKINA CITY TRAFFIC AIDES TO ASSIST MMDA – TEODORO

Marikina City traffic auxiliary enforcers will be deployed along Marcos Highway and Katipunan Avenue to help traffic enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) manage the traffic situation in the area, said Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro.

“Marikina is committed as an auxiliary force in terms of equipment, personnel, in case of vehicular accidents, stalled vehicles along Marcos Highway and along Katipunan area,” Teodoro told MMDA East Sector head Randy Cerbito who paid him a courtesy call at the Marikina City Hall.

“We will commit our personnel to you. Let’s have a close coordination,” the mayor added.

In case of accidents, said their tow truck and other heavy equipment are ready to clear vehicles and other obstructions that may cause traffic jams in an area, especially along Marcos Highway.

“The Marikina City government is just one call away to respond.”

Teodoro said the city also has other ready equipment that the MMDA could use to clear roads.

Teodoro however clarified that such clearing operations will be under the supervision of MMDA. The city’s only intention is to immediately clear Marcos Highway for traffic in case of an accident.

Teodoro added that the Marikina City government will also work hand-in-hand with the MMDA in clearing illegally parked vehicles in the city.

He also assured that Marikina City government will provide additional signages for the MMDA.

“We will help in addressing the lack of signages.”

“Tutulong kami sa kakulangan ng (We will help in addressing the lack of) signages. We are going to help the MMDA. Ganoon naman ang commitment namin kay (That is our commitment to) Chairman (Danny) Lim,” Teodoro said.

Cerbito told Teodoro that the MMDA may need extra signages that they can be placed along roads. Teodoro immediately promised to provide what MMDA needs to better manage traffic flow.

Teodoro also asked the MMDA to help the city government remove illegal structures in the city.
