MANILA REP. CHUA SEEKS REELECTION IN 2025 POLLS

Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua filed his certificate of candidacy with the Commission on Elections.

Chua is seeking a second term as congressman of the district that covers Quiapo, Sta. Cruz, Binondo, Blumentritt, and San Nicolas.

The legislator is running under the banner of the Asenso Manileño party led by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo.

The lawmaker has pushed for legislative and policy reforms on public transportation, mass transport, minimum wage, and housing. He seeks fairness and efficiency in policies on TNCs, TNVS, more railways, and a better mass transportation system.

“Pinatunayan natin sa mga Manileño ang dekalidad na serbisyo natin.”

“Pinatunayan natin sa mga Manileño ang dekalidad na serbisyo natin. Mas mapag-iibayo pa iyan kapag minarapat ng mga kababayan ko sa Ikatlong Distrito na bigyan tayo panibagong mandato para sa tatlo pang taon bilang Kinatawan nila sa Kongreso,” he told his constituents.

“We reciprocate the voters’ trust with services they need. We prove and uphold the dignity of the District whenever we work here in Congress,” he added.

Chua, in 2023, opened a 24-machine dialysis center in Binondo with strong support from Lacuna. It is open to indigent patients availing of free dialysis services subsidized by PhilHealth.

“We have a project where we provided scholarships to hundreds of Grade 10 public school students, allowing them to attend private schools.”

“We have a project where we provided scholarships to hundreds of Grade 10 public school students, allowing them to attend private schools like Espiritu Santo Parochial School,” he said.

Chua also prodded the Department of Labor and Employment to regionalize the setting of minimum wages to narrow the wide gaps in wage rates.

His “Abogado ng Distrito” persona has evolved along with his election in the House of Representatives to the chairmanship of the House committee on good government and public accountability.

Chua’s signature bill, the proposed Quiapo Heritage Zone Act is now with the Senate after approval by the House on third reading.
