The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently constructing a P19.39-million multipurpose building that would cater to the needs of senior citizens of Barangay Tugatog, Malabon City.
DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta Malaluan, in her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, said that the DPWH Malabon-Navotas District Engineering Office (DEO) has accomplished 72.34 percent in the construction of the Tugatog Senior Citizens Multipurpose Building Project which is targeted to be completed and opened within the second quarter of the year.
“The project will replace the dilapidated two-storey seniors building in the area.”

It can serve as a venue for health screenings, wellness programs, recreational activities, educational workshops, social clubs, and access to government assistance programs.
When completed, the new three-storey senior citizens facility with floor area measuring 107.25 square meters will be able to accommodate the diverse needs of senior citizens in the area, as it can serve as a venue for health screenings, wellness programs, recreational activities, educational workshops, social clubs, and access to government assistance programs.
The building will have fully-equipped with persons with disabilities (PWD)-friendly comfort rooms, grab bars, wider doors, and proper signage to promote inclusivity and provide the diverse needs of its members, as well as an automatic fire sprinkler system, and fire alarm system to ensure safety within the facility.
