Senator Bong Revilla has proposed a measure for all public and private hospitals in the country to delegate the ‘rescue-in-tandem’ motorcycle first responders to reduce response time and improve health care in both rural and urban areas in the country.
Revilla filed a Senate bill No. 1120, or “An Act Mandating All Public and Private Medical Institutions and Hospitals to Provide for Motorcycle Medical Emergency First-Responders,” as he recognized the urgent need to provide quick medical response to both medical patients and victims of vehicular accidents.
“Emergency response is often delayed because ambulances are trapped in heavy traffic jams.”
The veteran legislator pointed out that as traffic worsens in the country every day, emergency response is often delayed because ambulances are trapped in heavy traffic jams.
In under-served and unserved far-flung and mountainous areas, many suffer serious illnesses and injuries without being attended to by medical personnel. In some areas, committed medical personnel have to walk long distances for several hours just to attend to these far-flung areas.
“Motorcycle first responders can radically reduce response time.”
Revilla believes that motorcycle first responders can radically reduce response time and improve patient care anywhere in the Philippines, since they can easily navigate roads by weaving through traffic.
“Kada segundo, mahalaga sa pagliligtas ng buhay. Kaya dapat nating maabot yung mga kababayan natin na nasa malalayong lugar na di maabot ng mga eksperto, lalo na yung mga kailangan ng agarang pagtugon sa mga aksidente sa kalsada,” the senator stressed.
