The Makati City government started the distribution of apparel to public school students on Monday in preparation for in-person classes hampered by almost two years of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Makati Mayor Abby Binay led the ceremonial distribution of bags, personalized jackets, raincoats, and Air Binay 4.0 sneakers to pupils of Pio del Pilar High School and Makati High School.
Grades 1 to 3 students will each get a backpack, while those in Grades 4 to 12 will receive a three-way bag.

Public school students from kindergarten to senior high school will get the newly launched sneakers.
The city government already distributed the 3.0 version of the sneakers to 93,110 pupils in 2020 before the pandemic halted physical classes.
About 90,000 received the 2.0 sneakers in 2019 and 89,862 got the first version.

“The provision of school apparel and sneakers is aimed at boosting their morale,” Binay said during the ceremony shared online, adding that the pairs of shoes are of high quality.
The city government also held a ceremonial turnover of prisoner vans, patrol vehicles, and food carts at the city hall.
In a virtual briefing recently, the Department of Education (DepEd) gave a positive rating on the progressive expansion of limited face-to-face classes nationwide.
There are 14,350 public and private schools involving 2,562,514 learners nominated to resume physical classes, according to DepEd.
