Following the phenomenal success of the 2023 Maginhawa Arts and Food Festival, which saw over 40,000 highly excited visitors and generated over PhP 2,000,000 for local merchants, the Maginhawa Food Community is proud to announce an even bigger event this year on December 7, 2024. This year’s festival promises to be a grand celebration of culture and culinary delights that Maginhawa has in store, perfectly in time to coincide with the 85th founding anniversary of Quezon City. So, mark your calendars for an immersive culinary tribute to food, culture, and community to date.
A Vision of Vibrancy and Identity
Originally launched as Maginhawa Arts and Food Festival in 2014, former Speaker and Mayor Sonny Belmonte wanted it to become Quezon City’s main hub for food, culture, and arts. This year 2024, it has kept this vision alive since, through the years, it has stuck to its commitment to the cause of celebrating the unique identity that Maginhawa has come to be known for—a vibrant food and cultural district-nurturing innovation in the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises sector.
This year, the festival showcases the rich food landscape and artistic community of Maginhawa, ensuring that the local economy benefits from both visitors and entrepreneurs coming into the area. Food, art, and entertainment come in a mix of history and modern-day creativity that has been the trademark of Maginhawa as a destination.
Event Highlights: A Day of Fun, Food, and Community
The festival will take place on December 7, 2024, from 4:00 AM until 12:00 midnight, wherein several activities are lined up to follow one after another during the whole day. The main showcase of this event is the Food Market with a total number of 100 booths to be set up along the street for food and non-food items combined. These stalls include the existing food establishments within the Maginhawa area and other merchants from outside the famous street.
Different sets of entertainment will be gracing the event, from Zumba sessions in the morning to showstopping live performances from notable local artists like Imago, Sud, and Toneejay.
Exciting Firsts
The “arts” at the Maginhawa Arts and Food Festival would not be true without an actual showcase of art. For this year, the Maginhawa Food Community collaborated with QCinema to highlight the incredible stories of Maginhawa through film showing. Another first would be the launching of the food district exchange with QC Chinatown at Banawe Street, and Kapitolyo in Pasig City.
Maginhawa Expo and the Maginhawa Experience
Another first this year would be the quest to create the ultimate comfort food that would represent Maginhawa. The TASTESETTERS of MAGINHAWA is a pioneering culinary search and build-up for the ultimate “comfort” food, which best embodies the vibrant spirit of Maginhawa Street. In collaboration with Sysu, this challenge invites local chefs and food enthusiasts to build dishes that accurately depict the rich flavors and cultural diversity that dynamically create the food scene of this neighborhood. In it lies the perfect blend of popular classics with modern twists—the essence of Maginhawa’s culinary identity elevated into one single signature dish that speaks from the heart of this beloved street. Such a collaboration showcases not just local creativity but celebrates Maginhawa as a hub for innovation and community-driven food experiences in gastronomy.
A Grand Finale: Fireworks and Festivities
The Arts and Food Festival will cap off with a fireworks display, also to celebrate the 85th founding anniversary of Quezon City.
Organizers and Partners
The 2024 Maginhawa Arts and Food Festival is a joint undertaking between the Maginhawa Food Community and the Quezon City Government through the Office of the City Mayor and the QC Tourism Department.
