LTFRB TO SUMMON MAKESHIFT BUS TERMINAL OPERATORS

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said four bus companies operating in EDSA Malibay, Pasay will be summoned by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for operating illegal makeshift terminals, leaving passengers without adequate facilities.

Dizon aired his frustration after inspecting the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), while issuing a stern warning against Philtranco, Mega Bus, Ten Ten and RMB Bus Companies, saying leaving passengers in a deplorable state—lack of chairs and comfort rooms, proper roofing, and even electric fans—is unacceptable.

“Bus terminals should be modeled after the PITX, which offers comfort and safety to passengers.”

The transport chief explained that bus terminals should be modeled after the PITX, which offers comfort and safety to passengers.

Sanctions will be imposed against these companies, the transport head added.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will seek the assistance from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) as well as the LTFRB and Land Transportation Office (LTO) in cracking down on such bus companies.

“Talagang winawasak ‘yung dignidad ng mga kababayan natin kapag ganito,” he pointed out.
