Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat is urging all hotels and lodging establishments allowed to operate during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to lower their rates for health workers and other frontliners.
“Everyone’s cooperation is needed at this time to help flatten the curve. Let us help those who cannot stay at home, those who work at the front lines every day,” Romulo-Puyat said.
Luzon is now under an enhanced community quarantine with mass public transportion being suspended as a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19.
All hotels and other accommodation establishments are temporarily prohibited from operating except for guests who are employees of supermarkets, hospitals, medical facilities, utility companies, BPOs, and the like.
All hotels and other accommodation establishments were also temporarily prohibited from operating except for those with foreigners as guests with existing bookings as of March 17, 2020; long staying guests with existing bookings as of March 17, 2020; and guests who are employees of supermarkets, hospitals, medical facilities, utility companies, call centers, and the like. New bookings for only these types of guests are being allowed.
In its updated guidelines, the DOT said all accommodation establishments that are being allowed to operate during the enhanced community quarantine must also regularly report on the number of their skeleton crew staff, and details about their guests.
“Said hotels are also expected to maintain limited operations and staff, ensure proper sanitation and disinfection, and implement social distancing measures,” the DOT said.
