LEE HOSTS GMA NETWORK’S PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAM

The newest public service program “Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko” premiered nationwide on Sunday on GMA 7 Network, hosted by AGRI Party-list Rep. Wilbert T. Lee, and TV personalities Gelli de Belen, Sherilyn Reyes-Tan and Patricia Tumulak.

“Masaya at sobrang honored po tayo na maging bahagi ng programang ito na magpapakita ng mga tunay na kwento at hamon na kinakaharap ng marami nating mga kababayan,’ Lee, a former businessman and now public servant, said.

“Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko” will be aired every Sunday, 7AM to 8AM nationwide on GMA, except in Regions 7 and 8 which will air the program at 8AM to 9AM.

“Dasal po natin na sa pamamagitan ng programang ito, hindi lang tulong na may pangmatagalang impact ang maihahatid natin, kundi pati na rin pag-asa at inspirasyon sa marami nating kababayan. Pag-asa na malampasan ang pagsubok, gaano man kabigat; inspirasyon na tumulong at magmalasakit sa kapwa para mapagaan ang kanilang pasanin, at sa dulo, maging Winner Tayo Lahat,” the Bicolano lawmaker said.

Every week the show will feature two beneficiary groups.

For its pilot episode, the program tackled the struggles of onion farmers in Bayambang, Pangasinan. The said farmers shared how they suffered from financial losses and faced huge debts from loans in different banks and cooperatives due to bad harvests and longstanding problems.

To help them have a good harvest and increase their income, the program provided them with a truckload of fertilizers, pesticides and seeds. Delivery trucks were also committed to assist the beneficiaries in delivering products from their farm to the market to prevent these from rotting.

For the second part, the show featured the request of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) in Orani, Bataan. The said council is a volunteer sea guardian group, which actively helps in protecting the livelihood of fellow fishermen and rescuing those in distress or at risk, especially during typhoons or inclement weather.

To address their problem, the program will provide their requested rescue boat to enhance their capability and mobility in rescuing and saving lives.

Sharing her insights about the program, veteran actress and host De Belen said “The help that the beneficiaries of the show need is beyond the usual food or financial aid; what they need is something that will really help them earn a living and sustain them in the long run.”

Tumulak, on her part, stressed: “Sometimes they just want to feel that they are seen and heard, so listening to them is already a form of help. But of course, we don’t stop there. We thoroughly study their cases, and we try to provide solutions for their concerns.”

“We want to go beyond solving their immediate problems… we also want to give them hope by providing opportunities to support themselves in the long-term,” Reyes-Tan explained.

“Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko” will be aired every Sunday, 7AM to 8AM nationwide on GMA, except in Regions 7 and 8 which will air the program at 8AM to 9AM.
