LACUNA THANKS UNDP FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT EQUIPMENT

City of Manila received environmental equipment from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to help improve the current waste management system.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Department of Public Services Officer-in-Charge Kayle Nicole Amurao formally received the Mobile Materials Recovery Facility along with other equipment from UNDP Resident Representative Dr. Selva Ramachandran at the City Materials Recovery Facility.

“This mobile MRF will be taken to different communities and will take its significant role in the promotion of circular economy solutions that involve sharing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling,” Lacuna said.

Joining them was UNDP Project Manager Anthony Dela Cruz, Chairman on Environmental Protection and Ecological Preservation Councilor Timothy Oliver Zarcal, Public Recreations Bureau OIC Roland Marino, and Brgy. 720 Chairman Enriqueta Platon.

Aside from the Mobile Materials Recovery Facility with trailer, the city also received Solid Waste Management (SWM) equipment such as plastic melter machine, multipurpose shredder, glass pulverizer, and SWM tools to aid in the city’s goal to be a more environmentally friendly city.
