The first female Mayor of the City of Manila addressed the achievements and plans of the city through the annual State of the City Address at the City Council of Manila’s Session Hall recently.
Mayor Honey Lacuna was joined by Vice Mayor John Marvin Nieto, the 12th City Council of Manila, and department heads of the local government during her report to Manileños.
“Dito sa Maynila, walang iniiwan, lahat kasama, lahat mahalaga,” Lacuna stressed in her first State of the City Address.
The lady mayor reported the current projects and assistance given by the City, such as the social amelioration program for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and Grade 12 and college students of city-funded schools.
Her administration’s focus on the healthcare system was also reported, with the introduction of new equipment and services provided by the 44 health centers of Manila in accordance with the Universal Health Care Law.
Continuous infrastructure projects such as construction of world class schools, animal shelter, and other services were also exhibited along with the different street lighting projects of the city government.
“Hangad natin na magkaroon ng inklusibong pamamahala kung saan magkasabay ang paglago ng Lungsod at ng bawat pamilyang Manilenyo.”
“Naniniwala tayo na ang lahat ng tao ay may pangunahing karapatang mamuhay ng may dignidad, sa ligtas at disenteng kundisyon. May mga oportunidad para sa kanilang ikabubuhay at natutugunan ang pang-araw-araw nilang pangangailangan. Hangad natin na magkaroon ng inklusibong pamamahala kung saan magkasabay ang paglago ng Lungsod at ng bawat pamilyang Manilenyo,” Lacuna said.
She ended the city address with a call for support from the public to the city government in maintaining peace and cleanliness and to help the local government in attaining a #MagnificentManila by 2030.
“Sa tulong ng bawat isa, makakamit natin ang Maringal na Maynila.”
“Hinihikayat ko po kayong lahat, bawat isang Manilenyo, anuman ang kalagayan ninyo sa buhay, magtulungan tayo mula sa simpleng pagtupad sa mga payak na alituntunin sa kalinisan, kaayusan, at kapayapaan. Sa tulong ng bawat isa, makakamit natin ang Maringal na Maynila. Patuloy kong gagampanan ang aking misyon bilang inyong Punong Lungsod na nagpapadama ng pagmamahal at naghahatid ng kalinga,” Lacuna concluded.
