John Pangilinan, former senator Kiko Pangilinan’s youngest brother, joined the campaign trail in Quezon province to woo voters and take pride in his brother’s track record and reputation as lawmaker.
John, who represented the former senator in the Quezon province campaign rally of the Kiko-Bam tandem, asked voters to look at his brother’s track record and character before making a choice this coming May 2025 polls.
The former senator, who is running under the message of food security, was the author of the Sagip Saka Act, which allows local government units (LGUs) to buy produce directly from farmers and fisherfolk.
“Alam niyo po si Kuya Kiko, importante po natin malaman ang kanyang tunay na pagkatao. Ang pagkatao po ni Kuya Kiko ang dapat natin isipin at wag makalimutan (You know Kiko, it’s important to learn about his true character. We should think about and not forget Kiko’s character),” he said.
He took pride in not only his brother’s work as a lawmaker in the last three terms he was senator, but in keeping his name clean and untainted.
“Tatlumpung taon naninilbihan sa gobyerno na walang bahid na kahit anong anomalya at walang korapyson. Tingnan nyo yan. Importante po natin maalala yan dahil yan ay kritikal sa ating mga kinabukasan at ating mga anak (30 years of service in the government and there’s no anomaly and no corruption [linked to his name]. Look at that. It’s important for us to remember because that is critical to our future and your kids),” John added.

The former senator was in Cagayan de Oro for a prior schedule there also to campaign and push for his advocacies of food security and lower prices of goods.
Saying that the Pangilinan siblings have been going around the country—from Luzon to Visayas to Mindanao—John shared that in his 33 years in public service, Kiko has passed more than 300 laws.
“May kailangan harapin na malaking problema at kailangan po natin manalo bilang Pilipino at kung ihahalal po natin si Kiko, tayo po ay magwawagi (There’s a big problem we need to face and we need to win as Filipinos and if we vote for Kiko, we will be the ones who will win),” he said.
The former senator, who is running under the message of food security, was the author of the Sagip Saka Act, which allows local government units (LGUs) to buy produce directly from farmers and fisherfolk.
He plans to expand this program, engaging both the private and public sectors, if he wins another term in the Senate.
A former food security czar during the Aquino administration, he was responsible for reducing rice prices by up to P3 per kilo during his term.
He also lowered rice inflation from 15% to 0.8%, contributing to the lowest national inflation rate in two decades.
