Tanod-Lupa (Cultural Center of the Philippines, Manila)
Are you a fan of mythical beings? If so, you’re in for a treat! Halloween has arrived early with CCP’s illuminated public art installation showcasing mystical creatures from Philippine folklore. This installation features the works of multimedia artist Abdulmari “Toym” de Leon Imao Jr.. Toym Imao’s art aims to highlight pop culture sensibilities in many of his creations. He is also known for notable projects such as the Tandang Sora National Shrine in Quezon City, the Andres Bonifacio Shrine in Cavite, and the Cordillera Freedom Monument in Baguio City.
Tahanan Pottery’s workshops (Scout Tobias, cor Scout Lozano, QC)
Want to unleash your inner artist? The Tahanan Pottery Shop will be hosting a variety of workshops throughout January. They offer exploratory Pottery Wheel Workshops every Saturday. On January 18, they will have several special workshops, including a basic sculptural clay class, an origami cup workshop, and other offerings.
Silverlens’ solo exhibitions (Silverlens’ Metro Manila gallery, Makati)
Kicking off their Manila exhibitions, Silverlens, a leading contemporary art gallery with locations in Manila and New York features three solo exhibitions, starting with the return of Keke Enriquez to the Manila art scene with ‘Points and Endings’, Renato Orara’s “Entangled Pairs” featuring the artist’s 100 ballpoint pen drawings, and Yvonne Quisumbing’s “Sanctuary”, featuring the helping plants of barangay Lugo in Cebu. The three solo exhibitions started their Manila viewing on January 9 and will run until February 5.
