A party-list lawmaker is calling for an increased budget for science and technology in the forthcoming budget hearings at the House of Representatives.
1-Ang Edukasyon Party-List Representative Salvador Belaro Jr. made the call recently on the occasion of the observance of Science and Technology Week.
“We have to shift to a knowledge-based economy as soon as possible,” Belaro stressed.
The Assistant Majority Leader has a bill creating a Philippine space agency (House Bill No. 6413).
In addition, the legislator is also the author of various related bills on research and development, namely: House Bill No. 1444 (Research Incentives Act), House Bill No. 6647 (Annual Science and Technology Invention Expo Act), and House Bill 6706 (Research Fund Act).
Belaro is author of research and development bills namely the Research and Incentives Act, Annual Science and Technology Invention Expo Act and the Research Fund Act.
The lawmaker is an advocate for the promotion of an empowering education in the House of Representatives.
While he was still a student, Belaro was awarded by the Department of Science and Technology as one of the 1985 Outstanding Youth Scientists.
