Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles led officials from the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the beneficiary LGU in turning over 600 additional housing units in Ajuy, Iloilo last May 7, 2021 as part of the Duterte administration’s promise to finish all its housing commitments to victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
Since assuming the chairmanship of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Unified Implementation and Monitoring of Rehabilitation and Recovery Projects and Programs in Yolanda-affected Areas, Nograles has turned over 35,986 units to different cities and municipalities in Region 6.
Nograles, chair of the government’s Zero Hunger Task Force, emphasized that all the houses they have built are located in new communities complete with all the basic amenities for quality living, stressing that the resettlement areas contain community farms that will provide the nutrition needs of families and possible livelihood opportunities.
Complete housing units have been distributed in the following areas in Western Visayas: Ajuy, Iloilo (3,615 units), Carles, Iloilo (10,708 units), Culasi, Antique (1,974 units), Altavas, Aklan (393 units), Panit-an, Capiz (572 units), Estancia, Iloilo (3,242 units), Laua-an, Antique (1,267 units), Ivisan, Capiz (672 units), Concepcion, Iloilo (1,000), Jamindan, Capiz (535 units), Dumangas, Iloilo (1,993 units), Pilar, Capiz (1,354 units), Pontevedra, Capiz (1,168 units), Pandan, Antique (1,000 units), Panay, Capiz (1,543 units), Barotac Viejo, Iloilo (822 units), Roxas City, Capiz (1,533 units), Anilao, Iloilo (364 units), Banate, Iloilo (1,631 units) and the latest additional 600 housing units again in Ajuy.
During the virtual turnover for the Adcadarao People’s Village, Barangay Adcadarao, Ajuy, Iloilo site, Nograles praised the NHA leadership and staff as well as the local government unit for their support and cooperation in seeing the project through despite the challenges brought by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are thankful for the efforts of the municipal officials of Ajuy, led by Mayor Jett Rojas, Vice Mayor Robert Villaruz, Sangguniang Bayan members and employees and staff for making this dream of free housing a reality,” the Malacañang official said.
The Cabinet Secretary added, “we likewise recognize the dedication of the NHA, particularly General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr., together with Regional Manager Engr. Antonio Del Rosario and District Manager Fe Jamoyot for ensuring the project’s timely completion. Everybody worked as a team, and this is reflected in the excellent result for the benefit of the people of Ajuy.”

We have fully experienced the government’s concern.
