I WILL CONTINUE HELPING FIRE VICTIMS – GO

Senator-elect Bong Go has vowed to continue giving assistance to fire victims even as he officially starts his work in the Senate.

Go made the commitment following his visit to 119 individuals affected by a fire that struck Mapagkumbaba Extension Pook Malinis, Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City.

“Definitely. At hindi lang sa mga nasusunugan. Kung saan tayo kailangan ng ating mamamayan, pupuntahan ko, saan mang sulok ng bansa ([I will assist] not only those who were affected by the fire but I will go to wherever my countrymen need me),” said the former presidential aide who rushed to the victims to provide immediate help right after his trip to Tokyo, Japan with President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I will not limit myself to being just a legislator. Ang trabaho ko ay hindi confined lang sa apat na sulok ng Senado. Bagamat sa July 1 pa officially mag-umpisa ang bagong Senado, ako ay magtatrabaho na at maghahatid ng tulong sa aking kapwa Pilipino. Serbisyo, serbisyo, serbisyo. Iyan ang tangi kong bisyo (My job is not confined within the four walls of the Senate. Though I officially start my work in the Senate on July 1, I will still provide help to Filipinos who are in need. Service is my only vice),” he added.

“I will not limit myself to being just a legislator.”

Go said he would prioritize and push for fire safety and prevention measures once he assumes the Senate seat.

“Service is my only vice.”

He is also eyeing to use the Senate’s oversight duty to check the Bureau of Fire Protection when it comes to the guidelines in the issuance of safety permits.

Go urged government agencies and the private sector to extend assistance and take time to help fellow Filipinos in need.

Meanwhile, Go bared the accomplishments of Duterte’s Tokyo visit, where some major agreements were signed such as the expanded cooperation on trade promotion between Philippines and Japan, and the joint venture agreement for the finance, design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the electric power distribution system in New Clark City.

“Maganda naman po ‘yung naging resulta sa pagbisita ni Pangulong Duterte. Madami pong good news na nadala si Pangulong Duterte. About $5.5 billion, or P288 billion po ang nadala na business deals (President Duterte’s visit was successful. He brought us good news. We bagged around  $5.5 billion, or P288 worth of business deals),” Go said.

“Expected po ito to generate more than 82,000 jobs to Filipinos. Ito po ay mga business agreements, pledges, mostly in infrastructure, manufacturing, electronics, transport and power. Mayroon rin pong 25-billion yen commitment from Japan. It has also been secured for the development of Mindanao, particularly in regions, roads, networks, and others,” he added.
