The House of Representatives (HRep) held its first outreach program for persons with disabilities (PWDs) at the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA).
The program involved the distribution of wheel chairs, quad cane, cane, stroller-walkers, crutches and grocery food packs with toiletries to PWDs beneficiaries.
“This is the first time (the HRep) conducted this outreach program for our fellow Filipinos with disabilities.”
Guest speaker and Quezon City 2nd District Representative Ralph Tulfo described the activity as “historic, because this is the first time (the HRep) conducted this outreach program for our fellow Filipinos with disabilities”.
Part of the efforts to support the PWDs sector is House Bill (HB) 9467, which the legislator principally authored, seeking to make Disability Identification Cards valid for lifetime.
The lawmaker acknowledged Speaker Martin Romualdez for the ongoing efforts at the HRep to prioritize the passage of bills for the benefit of PWDs and other disadvantaged sectors.
The HRep outreach program is part of the various events organized in the month-long celebration of the HRep’s 117th year anniversary held every October of the year.
