HOUSE HELPS RELEASE P20M FOR TONDO FIRE VICTIMS

Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Partylist, acting on the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., facilitated the request for the immediate release of P20 million in cash assistance to aid 2,000 families displaced by the recent fire at Barangay 105 Aroma in Tondo, Manila. 

The assistance, sourced from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), will provide P10,000 to each affected family to help them recover from the tragic incident. 

“We facilitated the request for the immediate release of P20 million for the families affected by the Tondo fire, following President Marcos’ directive. This financial aid is to be provided with the help of DSWD Sec. Rex Gatchalian, along with our ongoing relief efforts, will extend resources to help them rebuild their lives,” Romualdez said. 

Alongside the cash aid, the Office of the Speaker, in partnership with Tingog Partylist led by Representatives Yedda Romualdez and Jude Acidre spearheaded efforts on Sunday to distribute hot meals.

House Deputy Secretary General Ponyong Gabonada detailed the relief operations, which included serving 4,500 bowls of lugaw (porridge) and arroz caldo in the three evacuation centers. 

“Hot meals in coordination with the office of Manila 1st District Representative Ernix Dionisio were given to the victims to ensure that families have something to eat during this difficult time,” Gabonada said.

“We prepared 2,500 servings of lugaw and arroz caldo for General Vicente Lim Elementary School evacuation center, and 1,000 servings each for Barangay 105 and Barangay 106 covered courts.”

Dionisio expressed his deep gratitude to Marcos, Romualdez and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian for their swift response in providing much-needed assistance to the fire victims of Barangay 105 Aroma. 

“On behalf of the people of Tondo, I sincerely thank President Marcos, Speaker Romualdez, and Secretary Gatchalian for their unwavering support and quick action in addressing the needs of our fire-affected residents. Their leadership and compassion have been vital in helping the community recover from this tragic incident,” the lawmaker stressed.
