“We are here to support you in every way possible, ensuring you have the resources needed to succeed in Paris,” the veteran legislator added.

This gesture follows the meeting of Romualdez last May 22 with a delegation of Paris-bound Filipino athletes led by Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas President Monico Puentevella.

During the meeting, the seasoned lawmaker provided the same amount of financial assistance to other members of the Olympic delegation, including weightlifters John Ceniza, Eireen Ando and Vanessa Sarno, as well as rower Joanie Delgaco.

The rest of the Filipino athletes who will represent the Philippines to the Paris Olympics will receive financial assistance from the Office of the Speaker.

Romualdez has expressed his profound admiration for the athletes’ hard work and their inspirational journeys.

“Each one of you has faced numerous challenges and made countless sacrifices to reach this point. Your dedication and perseverance are commendable, and you carry our nation’s hopes and dreams with you,” he said.

“This financial support is more than a reward; it is a symbol of our belief in your abilities and our commitment to your success.”
