HOUSE DEV’T FORUM CITES BOHOL, ISABELA PROJECTS

The three Committees on Science and Technology, Bases Conversion and Visayas Development of the House of Representatives recently collaborated to host the Forum dubbed “Bridging Research and Policy.”


Experts from the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) were on hand as resource persons for the Forum.

NRCP President Dr. Leslie Michelle Dalmacio thanked the organizers for inviting them to the Forum, describing it as “an historic occasion,” and supportive of the NRCP’s goal of promoting evidence and research-based policies that will help propel the great nation’s progress and sustainable development.


During the Forum, Bohol 2nd District Representative Maria Vanessa Aumentado and Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado were recognized for their great contributions to the research project “Transforming the Municipality of Ubay, Bohol into a Science City”.

The organizers also recognized the invaluable contribution of Isabela 6th District Representative Inno Dy, Chairman of the Committee on Bases Conversion, to the research project “Sustainable Community-based Tourism Potential and Development of Barangay San Miguel, Echague, Isabela in the New/Next Normal”.


Dy thanked the DOST-NRCP and the University of Santo Tomas “for doing the project with us”.

“The Forum helped congressional staff, and policy advisers… bridge the gap of transforming policy knowledge into action.”


Jesus Marquez, Chief of Staff of Aklan 1st District Representative Carlito Marquez, the Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technology, thanked the NRCP for their participation in the Forum, which helped “congressional staff, and policy advisers… bridge the gap of transforming policy knowledge into action”.

Marquez expressed hope that the forum “deepens our understanding, relevance and appreciation of research as a basis for sound policies and legislations”.


The forum also focused on the agenda setting for Policy Research of Luzon and Visayas regions. The Chairman of the Committee on Visayas Development is Leyte 2nd District Representative Lolita Javier.
