FPJPM’S ENDORSEMENT IS A MAJOR BOOST TO MY REELECTION BID – ANGARA

Senator Sonny Angara continues to rake in endorsements in his bid for another six-year term in the Senate, the latest of which was from supporters of the late Filipino movie icon Fernando Poe Jr.

Angara was among seven senatorial candidates endorsed by the Filipinos for Peace, Justice and Progress Movement (FPJPM) for the upcoming May elections. The group announced the endorsement in an event held at Club Filipino in San Juan City.

Formerly know as the FPJ for President Movement, the FPJPM supported Poe when he ran for the presidency but lost to now Speaker Gloria Arroyo in the 2004 elections.

The seasoned legislator said he was overwhelmed by and grateful for FPJPM’s endorsement, calling it a major boost to his reelection bid.

“I am grateful for FPJPM’s endorsement.”

“Marami pa ring nagmamahal kay Da King-kay FPJ at definitely malaking tulong ito sa ating kandidatura,” the veteran lawmaker said.

The senator, who is running under the platform “Alagang Angara,” said he is one with the FPJPM in carrying on Poe’s mission of fighting social injustices.

“Nagkakaisa kami sa pakikipaglaban para sa katarungang panlipunan na ‘yun talaga ang naging motto ni FPJ noong siya ay nabubuhay pa at ‘yun ang ipinagpapatuloy ng FPJPM,” he said.

Angara is also being endorsed by the Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional political party chaired by presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. He is also a guest candidate of PDP-Laban, the political party of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Also backing Angara’s reelection is the Coalition of Services of the Elderly Inc. or COSE, who described him as a “true champion” of the rights and welfare of the Filipino elderly in the Senate. COSE is an umbrella organization of 450 groups promoting the interest of senior citizens.

“Angara is a true champion of the rights and welfare of the Filipino elderly.”

He is also being endorsed by Coop-NATCCO Party-list, the country’s largest federation of cooperatives as it represents marginalized and underrepresented farmers and their cooperatives in Congress. Coop-NATCCO claims to have 906 member-cooperatives located in 62 provinces and 42 cities in all 17 regions in the country.

Just recently, one of the topnotchers in the 2016 senatorial elections, Senator Joel Villanueva, also threw his full support behind Angara’s reelection bid.

Villanueva, son of evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva, placed second in the 2016 senatorial polls with more than 18 million votes.

Angara, on the other hand, was elected to the Senate in 2013 after placing sixth in the midterm elections with over 16 million votes.
