Yes, you read that right! We are already in the first retrograde of the Planet of Communications, Mercury, two weeks in. This time though, the Planet of Love and Romance, Venus, will join the fun. The first Mercury retrograde starts today, January 14 and will end February 3. Just like in 2021, when the first retrograde fell under the Aquarius season, it would be wise to remember how we came out unscathed. It would help us prepare for this astrological event when our communications go haywire.
Since Venus is also retrograding this year, it is safe to assume that we may be entering the phase of double-trouble. So, go easy on sending that “I miss you” message to people from the past, unless, of course, it’s something we can follow through, by all means, send away! But since our communications will be challenged this season, we need to pause from time to time or take a step back before we say something. Mercury retrograde doesn’t just affect our communication ability; usually, some gadgets we use to communicate, like our cellphones and laptops, would randomly act up when the planet goes backwards.
What should I expect to happen in Mercury retrograde?
Expect the unexpected, but remain prepared for whatever may happen. Since two planets are retrograding, a lot of things could happen. Your phone may suddenly switch off even after charging it full batt. You may encounter some technical issues when in a Zoom meeting. Now, don’t go thinking it’s Zoomicron; it’s just the retrograde—or maybe it’s your computer telling you to free up some space.
You may also see sudden changes in your relationship and how you see things. But whichever way you look at it, the Mercury retrograde is not something you should be scared of. Yes, certain things may suddenly not work, but if anything, this article should serve as a reminder for you to be cautious. Take time to process what you wish to communicate to send the message across.
The good news is we get to have a little bit of reprieve from the whiplash of the retrograde in the latter part of January. It may be the best time to take that trip for some Eat, Pray, Love moment. But of course, err on the side of caution—considering the surge we are experiencing.
Beat the retrograde by being productive. Consistently check your inboxes, especially the unread ones, to avoid missing out on things that may turn out to be important. Though Mercury may be moving backwards, may the Planet of Communication remind us to take a step back, reassess, and redo things. Sometimes, to move forward, we need to look back.
P.S. Take this with the grain of salt.
P.S.S. Maybe it’s time to get that toothache fixed.
