Surigao City is set to welcome a new fast craft service by Ocean Fast Ferries Incorporated (OceanJet), connecting Surigao, Maasin, and Cebu.
The announcement was made after a meeting between Operations Manager Genaro Lastimado and City Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II with OceanJet executives Glenn Castor, Kenneth Batiancila, and Richmond Cinco.
The proposed service aims to provide a more convenient and efficient travel option for over 200 passengers per trip, with a fare of P1,900 per head.
The tentative launch is set on July 15, 2024, upon approval from the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The project is anticipated to boost economic activity and tourism in the region.
“We are seeing a great potential to enhance sea transport, which is beneficial to the residents of Surigao City as well as our visitors from the Visayas,” Dumlao stressed.
“The entry of a new player in the maritime industry aligns with the city’s goals of improving transportation and promoting economic growth.”

Councilors Baltazar Abian and Noel Christian Catre Jr. also attended the meeting, sharing Dumlao’s enthusiasm and underscoring the importance of the project for the city’s future.
