EVARDONE BRINGS SERVICES TO UPLAND COMMUNITIES

Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone made history as the first governor to hike 6.9 kilometers just to deliver essential services to his constituents in remote areas.

Evardone walked through the rugged mountains of Jipapad to reach Barangay Dorillo.

A former rebel stronghold, Brgy. Dorillo has for decades never been visited by any governor or any high-ranking provincial official.

“Evardone’s decision to personally visit this remote community, left an indelible mark on the hearts of its residents, leaving them with hope and optimism.”

“Evardone’s decision to personally visit this remote community left an indelible mark on the hearts of its residents, leaving them with hope and optimism,” read the post of Eastern Samar Provincial government on social media.

As a symbol of this historic occasion, his footprint was molded into a cement block symbolizing the government’s reach to Barangay Dorillo.

“Symbolic footprint to show that I am the first governor to visit Brgy Dorillo, Jipapad since it was established 60 years ago,” Evardone said in a Facebook post.

“This barangay was a former stronghold of the NPA. In October last year, the NPA overran the military detachment in this barangay, killing two military and wounding four others,” he noted.

During the visit, the community received valuable assistance from all the government agencies, offering support to the residents. Particularly noteworthy was the commitment to help the community by providing free medical check ups, free haircut, nail polish and circumcision, and educational scholarships and allowances.

“The success of the serbisyo benepisyo caravan in Brgy. Dorillo serves as a testament to the power of unity and collaboration among government agencies. It highlights the transformative impact that can be achieved when the leaders and communities come together to overcome obstacles that create positive change,” read the post of Eastern Samar Provincial government.

“As the Serbisyo BENepisyo Caravan continues its mission, it carries the hopes and aspirations of the people of Eastern Samar.”
